Terms of Service
The terms and conditions governing our skip hire comparison service. Last updated: June 2026.
1. What Our Service Is
Skip Hire Milton Keynes is a comparison and connection service. We do not own skips, operate vehicles, or carry waste ourselves. When you submit an enquiry or call us, we pass your details to one or more licensed local skip hire suppliers in our network so they can contact you with pricing and availability.
Our service is free for customers to use, and you are under no obligation to accept any quote. By using our website or submitting an enquiry, you agree to these terms.
2. Your Contract Is with the Supplier
Any skip hire you book is a contract between you and the supplier, not with us. The supplier is responsible for the quote, delivery, collection, waste disposal, permits they arrange, and their own terms covering matters such as hire periods, overloading, access requirements, wasted journey charges, and cancellation fees.
Always confirm the price, hire period, and any potential extra charges directly with your supplier before booking. We are not a party to that contract and do not supervise or control how suppliers operate.
3. Supplier Requirements
Suppliers in our network are required to hold a valid Environment Agency waste carrier licence and the insurance and permissions relevant to the services they accept. We ask suppliers to confirm and keep this information up to date, but we recommend you also verify a supplier's waste carrier registration before booking. You can check the public register at environment.data.gov.uk.
4. Pricing and Payment
Free to use: Comparing quotes through our service costs you nothing. You only pay the supplier you choose to book with.
Price guidance: Any prices shown on this website are typical local starting prices for guidance only. The final price varies by skip size, waste type, permit requirements, location, and availability, and is always confirmed by the supplier in their quote.
Payment to the supplier: All payment is made directly to the supplier under their terms. We do not take payments through this website and we do not handle your money.
Extra charges: Suppliers may charge extra for overloaded skips, excess weight, prohibited waste, failed access, or hire extensions. Ask your supplier about these before booking.
5. Typical Hire Terms (Guidance Only)
Most suppliers offer a standard hire period of 7 to 14 days, with extensions available for a daily fee. Heavy materials (soil, rubble, concrete, bricks) typically must not fill more than half the skip, and skips must not be loaded above the fill line.
These are typical industry terms provided for guidance. Your supplier's own terms apply to your hire and may differ; confirm them before booking.
6. Permitted and Prohibited Waste
Permitted waste typically includes: General household waste, garden waste, wood, metal, rubble, bricks, soil, plasterboard, furniture, and non-hazardous construction waste.
Prohibited waste. The following must NOT be placed in any skip:
Asbestos or asbestos-containing materials, gas bottles and cylinders, tyres, electrical equipment (fridges, freezers, TVs, monitors), paint and solvents, batteries, medical or clinical waste, fluorescent tubes, liquid waste, fire extinguishers, and any material classified as hazardous under UK environmental regulations.
If prohibited waste is found in a skip, the supplier may refuse collection until it is removed and may charge for the additional cost of safe removal and disposal under their terms.
7. Permits
If a skip is placed on a public highway, pavement, or any land owned by the local authority, a skip permit is required from the council. Your supplier can usually apply for the permit on your behalf and include the cost in the quote. Permit applications typically take 1 to 3 working days, and approval is at the council's discretion.
Skips placed on private land (driveways, gardens, private car parks) do not require a permit. It is your responsibility to confirm land ownership and ensure you have permission to place a skip on the land.
8. Cancelling an Enquiry or Booking
Enquiries: You can withdraw an enquiry at any time by calling or emailing us. If a supplier has already been matched, please also tell the supplier directly.
Bookings: Cancellation of a booked skip is governed by your supplier's terms. Many suppliers allow free cancellation with 24 hours notice but may charge for late cancellation or wasted journeys. Confirm the cancellation policy when you book.
9. Liability
We provide an introduction service only. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, pricing, or conduct of any supplier, for any loss or damage arising from a hire (including damage to driveways or surfaces), or for a failure to match your enquiry with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in connection with the service shall not exceed £100. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including project delays or loss of income.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights against the supplier who provides your skip. If you have a complaint about a supplier, raise it with them first; you can also tell us, as supplier conduct affects continued membership of our network.
10. Environmental Responsibility
Licensed suppliers transport waste to licensed waste transfer and recycling facilities, and many suppliers in the network recycle the large majority of what they collect.
Commercial customers should request waste transfer notes from their supplier as required by the Environmental Protection Act 1990. Domestic customers can also request a waste transfer note from their supplier.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
